The showbiz world was in shock last week when Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson announced they had split after seven years of marriage. The Coronation Street star and his actress wife revealed they were going their separate ways in a joint statement. It’s sad news for OK!, as we have known the couple for a number of years. A statement released through their management said: Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall are sad to announce that they have separated. They’ve shared many wonderful years together and will remain close friends. They ask for privacy at this emotional time, to allow them both to focus on their beautiful daughter Sienna-Rae, to ensure her continued happiness.

The couple whose daughter Sienna-Rae turned two in September met on the set of Coronation Street. Alan, 33, has played popular Tyrone Dobbs since 1998 while Lucy-Jo, 32, played Katy Harris for three years from 2002. Her character left the show after she was found guilty of murdering her father Tommy. Alan and LucyJo started dating towards the end of her time on Corrie, before she went on to star in Wild At Heart. In June 2009, OK! joined family, friends and the Coronation Street cast to witness Alan and Lucy-Jo tie the knot at St Bertoline’s Church in Barthomley, Cheshire. This was followed by a lavish celebration at Crewe Hall. Guests included Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, then Corrie actress Katherine Kelly and other cast members including Tina O’Brien, Ryan Thomas, Simon Gregson and Samia Ghadie. Alan told guests: I have never seen a bride so stunning in all my life. I’m the proudest man in the room and in the world.

Just over four years later, in September 2013, Lucy-Jo gave birth to their daughter SiennaRae. Two months after they introduced her to the world via the pages of OK!, with Lucy-Jo telling us that they had both taken to parenthood. We love it! It feels really natural, she said. Last year we met up with the family for a photoshoot, where the couple seemed happy and relaxed. Speaking of their daughter, Alan told us: Sienna knows she’s got me wrapped around her little finger.
