Bed and Breakfast Drink

This is a nourishing and soothing milk-based drink good to have in the morning and at bedtime.

Serves 1

1 cup milklow-fat for Kapha 1/2 to 2 teaspoons ghee Sugar or raw honey to taste
Heat the milk in a small saucepan over moderate heat, stirring frequently. When just at the boiling point add the ghee and sugar. Stir and allow to come to a full boil. Cool and serve warm. For those reducing weight, eliminate the ghee and use skim milk.

Don’t be scared or run away from these emotions as they are real and part of the journey. If there is any time in your life that people will completely understand you breaking down and crying for no reason, or experiencing a rollercoaster of mood swings, it is during pregnancy. Add having your freedom taken away and being confined to bed rest in a hospital, and the emotional rollercoaster has a few additional hills and bends. I’ve talked a lot about the importance of building your support network throughout this book. You know the saying it takes a village to raise a child. For some of you, now is a good time to build or grow your village. During your hospital stay it is great if some of you can make friends with other moms on your unit. If you don’t, it’s important to rely on your family and friends. You need the support now more than ever. Be honest with the people who make up your support system about what you’re feeling and ask for help when you need it.
