Rum Drinks

Rum comes in a range of colours and flavours; white, golden and dark (or black). Made basically of sugar cane by-products most of the worlds supply is made in the West Indies.

Each island and group has its own type: Cuban rums are generally lighter textured than those of Jamaica, Barbados, or Haiti. Some of the French West Indian rums from Martinique

and Guadaloupe are very sweet, while the clear white rum from Trinidad is nearly as sharp as vodka.

It is the amount of burnt sugar cane syrup, or caramel, that gives colour and flavour to the drink. Many of the native mixed drinks are made of a mixture of rums.
