Kapha appreciates light, dry, warm foods that are not too sweet, salty, or oily.
Make some naturally heavy foods lighter and easier to digest by heating them. Bring water and milk to the boiling point, then allow to cool before drinking or cooking.
Lighten rice and other grains by dry roasting or frying them in a small amount of oil until the grains begin to turn a light brown. Then cook as usual.
When following new recipes, try reducing both salt and sugar by one-half the amount called for.
Use corn and barley as grains and baking flours.
Serve tepid water with meals, but drink nothing for one hour after eating.
Eat such heavy foods as bananas, milk products, potatoes, and yams with a little honey, black pepper, ginger, or other pungent spices rather than by themselves.

Serve small to moderate portions of heavy or filling dishes.
Eat a tossed salad of mixed leafy greens daily.
