After being named in the New Year Honours list at the start of the year, Dame Joan Collins finished 2015 with another award. The actress was among those receiving trophies at the inaugural UKares Foundation Benefit in Los Angeles, where she took home the Icon title (left).
I’m very flattered that this new charity is honouring me, she told My blog! of LTKares, which supports UK and Commonwealth citizens in need living in the LTS.
You know, I’m very charitable in what I do, she added. In England, I have Shooting Star Chase, which helps children with disabilities. I got involved with UKares because they called me – I do not think that we have enough care for ex-pats who are underprivileged.
Also honoured at the event, which was held at the home of British Consul-General Chris O’Connor, were former boxing champion Audley Harrison and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump (right, with Dame Joan), who took home the Positive Impact Award in recognition of her charity work.
It’s nice to be acknowledged, especially by my homeland, and to be in the Consul-General’s home, Lisa told us, later writing on Instagram that she was honoured to be acknowledged with the wonderful @joancollinsdbe.
Dame Joan, meanwhile, has another icon in her sights at the moment – the feisty Grand Duchess of Oxford, her role in US TV show The Royals. It’s fun, she said. But I wouldn’t want the Queen to see it.
