What does tech have to do with creating music?

When I was 11, I came across a computer program on YouTube that some guy was using to make songs. I downloaded it and started teaching myself how to use it from a tutorial. I use that software to take sounds apart and put them back together in my own way. You’re arranging and building things to create one song.

How did that turn into Jay Z calling you?

I made a beat and sent it to a songwriter, and he sent it to Jay Zand then I got a text that he was going to put me on his album. The first person I told was my mother, but it was my sibling’s birthday, so I didn’t want to take away from the day. Even though I wasn’t screaming on the outside, I was screaming inside. I was so excited.

Why did you decide to get into the technical side of music?

My grandma bought me a keyboard when I was a kid, and I took music lessons, but it didn’t really work out. But I have always had a love for instrumentals. For me, it was about the beat and layers in music, and that’s what I get to work with now.

Where do you see yourself in ve years? Doing what I’m doing nowbut a lot richer! I’m having fun, so I wouldn’t want to change anything. But I would love to work with Kanye West. He’s always creating new things and never copying anybody else.
