Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers LOVED WILD LOST

Little Sur Records

Excellent modern vintage album delivered with class

Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers set out to achieve a modern vintage, yet contemporary, feel to their latest release, Love Wild Lost. The Little Sur recording group have realised this, and so much more; combining a winning mix of folk, blues, country, psychedelia, pop and rock, all into one tidy package.

The glue that holds it all together is the authentic and breath-taking voice of Nicki Bluhm, who manages to own every song and meld her voice to exquisitely capture the genre of each song that the band performs. This is evident on Only Always which has a country tone, Waiting On Love, with its 70s energy and the full punch of guitar work and Mr. Saturday Night, which is all about the rock.

Queen Of The Rodeo is a solid country ballad with slide guitars, echoing Bluhm’s vocals, that are delivered with beautiful tone and believability. These are songs that vividly evoke days gone by, yet with the talent of skilful song-writing and fresh vocals, they have achieved a new, modern feel without changing their foundations.

Bluhm’s voice on Simpler Times is incredible with an enviable tone harmonising with her husband, and band mate, Tim Bluhm. Described as a quintessential Golden State journeyman musician and multi-instrumentalist,

Nicki also introduces him as her favourite living songwriter and it is clear there’s a real chemistry and understanding at play throughout the music.

The rock and attitude-filled Me And Slim shows another side to the band, however, with a sexier vocal and melodic support. Heavy Hey Ya is absolute gold with a wall of soulful vocals that gel to produce a harmony that has to be heard to be believed. Bluhm’s voice on this smooth and soulful song alone will capture your heart and lift your spirit.

Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers is a Californian gem to be discovered and enjoyed. And you are in luck – they’ll be touring the UK in autumn! Megan Gnad www.nickibluhm.com
