Pear Heiene Recipe
Cooking Time: 5 minutes You will need for 4 servings:
1 tablespoon cornflour 1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pint water essence
2 oz. plain chocolate 1 family size block
3 oz. castor sugar ice cream it oz. butter 4 halves canned pears pinch salt
1 Blend the cornflour with a little of the cold water.
2 Put the rest of the water on to heat with the chocolate and sugar.
3 When the chocolate has melted, pour on to blended cornflour, return to the pan and boil for 3 minutes, stirring all the time.
4 Remove from heat and stir in the butter, salt and essence.
5 Cut block of ice cream into four slices. Arrange on individual dishes. Place a pear half, cut side down, on the ice cream.
6 Pour hot chocolate sauce over and serve.
Pear cream pudding
Cooking Time: 20 minutes You will need for 4 servings: 1 lb. pears 1 packet chocolate sugar flavoured cornflour cochineal (optional) knob butter
1 pint milk walnuts (optional)
1 Prepare the pears and stew to pulp.
2 Sweeten to taste and, if liked, add a few drops colouring.
3 Mix the cornflour and 1-1J oz. sugar with a little of the cold milk to a smooth paste.
4 Heat the remaining milk, add the blended cornflour and stir until boiling. Boil for 1 minute, stirring all the time.
5 Add the butter and pour the mixture into a pie dish. Top with the stewed pears and decorate with walnuts, if liked.
6 Serve hot.
With canned pears: To save time canned pears may be used. Heat gently in the juice from the can. Omit sugar.
