Princess Eugenie had a song in her heart and goodwill on her mind when she joined festive guests at the Children & the Arts Christmas concert last week. The Princess joined in (above right) as jingle belle Rebecca Ferguson (left) led the carols at London’s Holy Trinity Church in Chelsea, where actor Brian Blessed raised the roof with the classic yuletide yarn The Night Before Christmas. Actresses Ronni Ancona, an ambassador for the charity, and Doon Mackichan and saxophonist YolanDa Brown also helped ensure it was anything but a silent night.
Adding an angelic note to the evening was the choir from Colvestone Primary School, one of the educational bodies involved with the charity’s Start programme, which gets disadvantaged children involved with the arts. Jazz FM DJ Jamie Crick hosted the concert, which will be broadcast on the radio station on Christmas Eve.
It was a fabulous evening and we are immensely fortunate in being able to call on the support of an exceptional array of talented artists who performed, Children & the Arts chief executive Jeremy Newton told My blog!. The concert gives us the opportunity to celebrate our work over the past year but importantly, it is also part of our fundraising activities. Indeed, the night raised around £45,000.
