7 Days Of Trying New Makeup Trends Beauty

Hey guys, it’s Mi-Anne and this is Beauty with Mi. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a beauty writer here at my blog. It’s what I do other than doing this show.

And last year I did a story where I tried 30 different makeup trends over a month and a half long period. I decided to recreate the experiment. This week we’re gonna do seven different trends from the red carpet, from Instagram and from Fashion Week. Some of them are really simple, some of them are really crazy. I’m gonna save the best, most outrageous one for last. So before we get into it, make sure you comment down below so that we can hang out every single Monday. Beauty with Mi comes out every Monday at 11am. And without further ado, let’s get onto day one. Day one is glossy lids inspired by makeup artist, Celine Bernaerts – one of my favorite, favorite makeup artists on Instagram. I started by taking my Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette. I used a flat eyeshadow brush to put a layer of amber and saffron onto my lids. Then I used a fluffy blending brush to blend it out. Then I tight-lined my eyes using my Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in the shade Blacker just to give my lashes a little bit more oomph. Next I followed up with a new mascara, actually. It’s by Covergirl. It’s called a Peacock Flare Mascara.

It is in the waterproof formulation. Then comes the fun part. The gloss. I used the Glossier lip gloss. It’s a great lip gloss to use on the eyes because it has a very ultra-shiny, almost glass-like finish. So I just took it out of the tube and using the doe-foot applicator, I put a bit of the product onto the back of my hand. Then I used a finger to just layer the gloss on top of my matte eye until I was happy with the amount of shine. I finished off the look with a layer of my Kat Von D Studded Kiss Créme Lipstick in the shade Lolita II. Which is a beautiful, matte, creamy nude. I know that my lips are very dry right now, so please excuse any of the flakes. I love this look. It was a really great way to start off my seven days of trends. I’ve been wanting to wear a glossy eye all over the lid all day for a while now and I’m glad that I finally did it. Although I will say, glossy eyes, despite how easy they are to do, are really annoying to maintain throughout the day. If you wear eye gloss, your eyeshadow is going to crease. It is going to melt a little bit.

New Makeup Trends – Glitter, Dotted

Even though it was annoying, I really enjoyed the look. I would definitely wear it again. Day two is the Glitter Cut Crease, inspired by my friend, Maryam, who is an influencer on Instagram. I started with the Covergirl Micro-Fine + Define Brow Pencil in the shade Soft Brown to beef up my brows. Apart from the Glitter Cut Crease, Maryam did a really gorgeous halo eye. So I grabbed my Milani Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette and laid down a base of this matte mid-tone brown shade. Then I took the matte black shade in the palette and applied it to the inner and outer thirds of my eye, making sure to keep a little sliver of bare lid in the center. I grabbed the silver and the navy blue metallic shadows in the palette and mixed them, and tapped them onto the center of my lid with my finger. Then blended it out. Then I moved on to eyeliner. I grabbed my black pencil eyeliner and traced that on my bottom lash line and smoked it out with the same mid-tone matte brown eyeshadow. To finish off the liner, I grabbed my Dior Liquid Liner in black and did a little cat eye. And then, for the fun part, I grabbed my glitter! I used the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in the shade Glam Rock. I used that to draw a small cut crease, so it actually wasn’t a full cut crease. But it did stop kind of in the center and it still gave the illusion of having a cut crease there. After the glitter finished drying, I grabbed the Ardell Magnetic Accents Lashes.

New Makeup Trends And Beauty Products To Try

I didn’t actually use them the way they’re intended to be. They adhere on their own without glue. But I actually just wanted to use them as normal lashes so I used some DUO Lash Glue, applied it to the lash band, let that dry, and then I stuck them on my lid. And they laid down so easily. I finish off the look with a little bit of the Marc Jacobs Liquid Highlighter and then some of my Kat Von D Studded Créme lipstick in Lolita II. Although I wouldn’t do this look every single day, I would definitely wear it again. Maybe just without the eyelashes. I don’t understand how people wear false eyelashes every day. I could not wait to take them off. It was a very dramatic experience, but still. All in all, I think I liked it though. Day three is Monochromatic Gold Highlighter inspired by Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty launch. I reached for my Milani Bold Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette which, if you can’t tell, I’m obsessed with. I just used the mid-tone brown shade on my crease just to blend things out before I use an eyeshadow brush to brush the highlighter onto my lid as eyeshadow. The highlighter itself is super pigmented so it’s a gorgeous gold that you can kind of wear everywhere. And then I use the same highlighter with a dense highlighter brush and dusted the color on my cheekbones and up into my temples.

It was kind of intense but I blended it out, left it alone and tight-lined my eyes with some of my black eyeliner pencil. And finished off with some mascara and lip gloss. This lip gloss is so beautiful. The thick, doe-foot applicator makes it really easy to slap the gloss onto your lips. So, this look was pretty simple. But I do think that if I were to do it again, I wouldn’t go so intense with the gold shade. I think in the future I would go for a sheerer layer and then do the same thing on the eyes. I loved the eyeshadow on the eyes. But I’ve seen Rihanna do the same kind of draped highlighter technique with purple highlighter and I love that look. So I might try that one next. Day four is Two-Toned Lips inspired by Cushnie et Ochs’ Spring 2018 Fashion Show. The makeup artist was Sammy Mourabit. All the models were wearing a shimmery taupe shade on the lids so I used the same Milani palette in the shade Suede side to side, all over the lid, and blended that into my crease using the matte mid-tone brown shade. Then, I finished off the eyes with a couple of coats of my Shiseido Full Lash Multi-Dimension Mascara in Waterproof. And moved onto the lips. I grabbed my Kat Von D lipstick in the shade Underage Red and I applied that to the top lip.

Now this is where things get hairy. It is a little bit difficult to resist the urge to smack and rub your lips together when you’re doing a two-tone lip. You can’t do that! And then you have to remove it with a wipe, which I did. I used my Rodin lipstick in the shade of Winks and then I just slicked the color onto my bottom lip. And then again, you’re going to want to rub your lips together but you can’t! Then I tapped a little bit of the Marc Jacobs Gel Highlighter onto my cheeks just to gloss it up a little bit. And then I went on with my day. Honestly, it was a very simple look. When you do smack your lips together it’s pink and red so it actually became a nice little mixture of the shade. Nothing too crazy. Definitely would wear it again. 10 out of 10 would recommend to a friend. Day five is Thumbprint Liner inspired by Lady Gaga’s Grammy’s 2018 makeup look by Sarah Nicole Tanno. I started off by using my Marc Jacobs Scandalous Eyeshadow Palette, and I used the matte burgundy eyeshadow all over my lid as a base. Then I grabbed my Marc Jacobs eyeliner in the shade Fine Wine and used that to create the shape of my rounded wing. I continued to create a round path circle shape upward toward my eyebrow and then brought the color back down to my eyelashes. Then I filled in the rest of the rounded liner using the same eyeliner pencil.

And then set it with the same Marc Jacobs eyeshadow. Then I moved onto the other eyeshadows. So I grabbed the metallic burnt orangey shade and tapped that onto the center of my lid. I grabbed my Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter in the shade Midnight Cowboy and dipped the brush into another gold glitter that had a little bit more of an orange tone. And I applied that to my lid and it created a little bit more of a burnt orangey gold. For my inner corner I used the same Marc Jacobs Eyeshadow Palette and tapped a shimmery cream eyeshadow into the inner corners of my eyes. Then followed up with the same Marc Jacobs red eyeliner on my lower lash line and smoked that out using the matte burgundy shadow. Lady Gaga had a layer of kind of flesh-toned eyeliner on her waterline. So I grabbed this Dior cream colored eyeliner and put that onto my waterline. To define my eyes, I used the Dior Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner and created a teeny tiny cat eye. To beef up my eyelashes, I used a few individual lashes. To blend the individual lashes in my normal lashes, I used my Shiseido waterproof mascara again. And finished off with a bite of Amuse Bouche Liquefied Lip in the shade Supreme. This look was really fun! It’s definitely one that I would wear again. I’m really into burgundy shades. I love wearing glitter.

So this was definitely up my alley. I think I was a little scared of doing eyeliner that was round. I’ve never done it before. But I don’t want to toot my own horn but I think it came out pretty well. Let me know what you think in the comments. Day six is Cotton Candy Eyes inspired by Oscar De La Renta’s Fall/Winter 2018 makeup look by makeup artist Tom Pecheux. So to create the baby blue that Bella has all over her lids, I actually mixed a couple of shades. So I used my Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in the shade Milk – it’s just like a matte white – with my KIKO Eyeshadow Crayon in the shade 44. I put it all over my lid, blended it into my crease and then I set it with a MAC eyeshadow in the shade Aqua. Then I used the MAC Chromographic Pencil in the shade Processed Magenta to line my lids. And then topped it off with a Manic Panic eyeshadow in the shade Pussy Galore. Then I finished off the whole look with a layer of lip gloss. I love this look. I would wear it again tomorrow and the day after and the day after that. I love the combination. I love the pink liner with my pink hair.

It’s just gorgeous and I think anyone can pull it off. And the last but not least, Day seven is Graphic Liner and Flash Tattoos inspired by Dior Haute Couture’s 2018 show. The makeup was done by Peter Phillips. So I used the Dior Waterproof Liquid Liner, which was the brand they used in the show. Because it was Dior. I started off by creating a very basic, black cat eye. But instead of stopping where I normally would, I extended the wing up and toward the tail of my brow. Then I created a reverse cat eye on my bottom lash line. Starting just below my lashes, drawing it all the way down toward my eyebrows and then created an elongated wing toward the tail of my brow as well. Leaving some space between the cat eye on the top of my lid and the reverse cat eye on my bottom lid. Then came the hard part. I had to create the little spikes on both sides of my eyeliner. So I used the same liquid liner. I drew an elongated triangle starting at my lash line and extending into my crease. Then I did the same step a few times until I got to the end of my lid. Then I did pretty much the same thing on my bottom lash line.

But the triangles themselves weren’t as thick. I started at the inner corner of my eye and went all the way down to the tail end of the wing. Then to finish off the eyes I used the Cream Dior Coal Liner on my inner corner of my eye and onto my waterline, and then in between the two wings. I repeated all those steps on my left eye and by the end of it, I was very, very excited to be done with the look. I put a little bit of mascara on and topped off my lips with a little bit of gloss. But it wasn’t even over then! There was more to the look. So I used some temporary tats from this brand called Tattly. I chose a set that says “Don’t just stand there,” which I thought would be appropriate because I was anticipating some weird looks when I wore this outside. So I just cut them into little pieces and stuck them on my collarbone. I tapped some water on to each of the tattoos, and then lifted it off to reveal my message. After I finished the look there was really nothing left to do but wear this look outside. This look was so out of my comfort zone, but honestly the feedback I got from it was really positive. I went outside to Fashion Week, did a few things there. Some street-style photographers actually wanted to take my picture, it was so cool. All in all, this experience was so fun.
