Another reason to say no to antibiotics: they could stop new brain cells growing. According to a study in the journal Celi Reports, prolonged antibiotic treatment in mice seemed to affect brain function by lowering the white blood cell count in the body. More tests showed the white blood cells acted as a communicator between brain, immune system and gut.There’s some good news, though: if you have to take antibiotics, taking probiotics and exercising can help reverse this negative side effect.
